(Reading time: ~ 5 min)

🤖 It’s time for Your AI News, Byte-Sized.

Hope you’ve had an amazing week. It sure has been in the AI space, with massive news headlines around Sam Altman, Meta, and Amazon. On top of that, I’ve got a great AI Entrepreneur Story of the Week for you! (hint: the AI company he’s created is now worth $1 Billion!)

If not, sit tight and enjoy the read!

⚡ AI Entrepreneur Story Of The Week!

Let’s begin… drum roll please!

This week’s AI Entrepreneur Story Of The Week goes to… Noam & Daniel of Character AI! 🎉

Now if you haven’t heard of Noam and Daniel, or Character AI, I wouldn’t blame you. That’s because the timeline for co-founders Noam and Daniel to start and grow their company to a staggering $1 billion valuation was just 16 months! That’s got to be a record somewhere…

Character.ai is a very simple app - It allows users to interact with virtual imitations of characters like Elon Musk, a life coach, and many more. It started when the duo were engineers in Google and built a chatbot as their 20% project.

However, their project didn’t float well with Google. So, they decided to go solo. Eventually, they landed $150 Million of Series A investments (led by Andreessen Horowitz), shooting them to Unicorn status. Now that’s a badass entrepreneurial story.

👆 My #BuildInPublic Feature

On this week’s #BuildInPublic Feature, we have Rania (@RaniaHashim12) and Skillecs AI!

Rania is an incredible creator - She’s putting out amazing apps at 16 years old! Skillecs AI is a useful tool that generates an entire learning roadmap for you around the topic of your choice. It’s got a sleek user interface and has been received well by the #BuildInPublic and Buildspace communities.

Well done to Rania and make sure to give Skillecs AI a try as well! Perhaps I’ll ask it how to run a newsletter 😆

🔨 Amazing AI Projects Worth Looking Into

Project #1: Andever by Alex (@AlexCornell)

The first project to look out for is from Alex Cornell, who has created an interior design agency portfolio entirely from Midjourney and GPT4. And I’m telling you - The photos are stunning! Super clear, crisp, and have an amazing aesthetic. For those of you into visual generative AI, you’ve got to take a look.

Project #2: Quivr by Stan (@_StanGirard)

Next up, we have Stan Girard and Quivr! Stan’s app allows you to store information into a store, that you can then query using GPT4 through a sleek interface! What I love about this project is that Stan is super open about his journey and shares a ton of behind the scenes work with his audience.

And he’s been making tons of progress and adding new features regularly. I’d recommend giving him a follow on Twitter to keep up 😄

Project #3: Doodletale by Marius (@MariusSm1th)

Last but not least, Doodletale is an AI-powered app made for children by Marius and his team. You can essentially generate an entire storyline for children from scratch by selecting a couple of characters, objects, and the setting.

I personally created a story by selecting an astronaut, a bed of flowers, and a tallow bird. I must say - the storyline generated was impressive and perfect for a children story.

This will be a huge app for teachers or caretakers. I’m excited to see where Marius and his team take this!

🗞 Last Week’s AI News Roundup

🔔 The Headliner: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Asks Congress to Regulate AI

Action is finally being taken against the regulations of AI, by none other than the “Father of AI”. He warns “if this technology goes wrong, it can go quite wrong“, along with addressing the impact of AI on jobs and the economy. The testimony called for the creation of an agency to handle these regulations.

💻 Meta is working on a new chip for AI

Meta’s new MTIA chip, which stands for Meta Training and Inference Accelerator, is its new introduction to compete in the AI race. It was labelled an “in-house, custom accelerator chip family targeting inference workloads” by their VP, and aims to vastly improve AI computing power, set to release in 2025.

🛒 Amazon Plans to Add ChatGPT-Style Search to Its Online Store

Amazon is gearing up to unleash a ChatGPT-style product search feature, putting Microsoft and Google on notice. With an interactive conversational experience, users can ask questions, compare products, and receive personalized suggestions. Search bars are losing their place in every corner of the internet 😅

🌎 AI Market Insights

(For the investors out there)

The AI market is expected to hit $2 Trillion by 2030 (20x what it is now) and is obviously becoming a hot topic for potential investors. I’ve included this section to get you up-to-speed on the AI Market.

No one really seems to know how exactly they can invest in AI technology, so here’s a quick guide:

There are 4 main ways to invest into the market:

  1. AI ETFs

  2. Various Stocks like Microsoft & Nvidia

  3. Startup funding/VC (Many small companies looking for investors)

  4. AI Art/NFTs (yes, there's a huge market for this)

You can pick up stocks on most exchanges available. However, do keep in mind that the market is so fresh that it’s more volatile than most, so invest at your own comfort. In general, the stocks fall into two categories:

  • Blue-chip tech companies that have invested or partnered with AI developers (E.g. Nvidia, Microsoft, Alphabet Inc.)

  • Smaller companies that completely revolve around AI (e.g. Character AI from earlier)

(❗ I’ve kept it short for this week, however, do drop some feedback in the form at the end as to whether you’d like to see more AI market insights in future releases.)

📚 The Byte-Sized Reading/Listening List

Prompt Of The Week

This one’s for the programmers!

"Can you recommend any useful libraries or frameworks for [specific task or programming language]?"

Anyone would know the painful search for the most ideal library… This will help.

AI Tweet Of The Week

There were too many to pick from 😄

🤗 Closing Thoughts

If you found Byte-Sized AI useful, do reach out! I’d love to hear from you 😀

As mentioned, my main goal with this is more than a newsletter - it’s to build a community. Once Byte-Sized gains a large enough following, I’ll be continuing into the next phases of creating a Discord channel and more avenues for AI entrepreneurs and business enthusiasts to connect.

Stay tuned for that! Have a great week and keep killing it out there 💪

(Psst… I’d greatly appreciate if you could take 30s to leave some feedback on this week’s newsletter in the form below! ❤️ )
